Competition Entry

Locally nicknamed the Snakes-and-Ladders Building, this office block breaks new design ground in the Caribbean by responding directly to its local economic, environmental and social context. The buildings plan snakes through the site, the lower floors twisting around to maximise daylight and views to the offices, culminating in a high landmark office block. All external walls are sheltered from the equatorial sun by a safari roof made up of a grid of shading rungs which extends over the entire building and the lushly landscaped car park beneath.
